OHRC Volunteer Project
Volunteers are needed to help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife with processing adult salmon and steelhead at the Oregon Hatchery Research Center (OHRC), located west of Corvallis near Waldport.
What: Up to 5
volunteers are needed for each shift. The work
is outdoors and
involves handling large
adult fish repeatedly. Each fish will
have a scale sample removed for age analysis,
length measured, digital photo taken, species
and sex identified, and tissue samples taken
for analysis.
When: From late October thru April, Mondays and Wednesdays.
Time: All day or half day shifts available. 7:30 to 4:30pm with a 1 hour lunch break, please bring a sack lunch.
Where: OHRC is
located on Fall Creek road off Hwy 34, 12 miles
west of Alsea.
Supplies: Please dress
according to weather and bring your own
raingear and waders if you have them. OHRC does
have some gear on hand if needed.
