NWF Campaigns By Initiative

Creating a Diverse Conservation Movement    NWF will engage diverse communities to create a collective vision for healthy communities and ecosystems.  By partnering with diverse community leaders, non-profit and government leaders, we can better engage the public and create a stronger united march for conservation.

Securing Landscapes for Wildlife    Habitat loss is one of the largest sources of stress for wildlife, and it is essential that we create and protect wildlife corridors between remaining viable habitats.  NWF will pursue landscape restoration strategies and engage in state level campaigns with its affiliates and partners with the goal of protecting, connecting and restoring wildlife habitat to ensure wildlife resources for the future.

Ensuring Water for Wildlife    Water quality and availability is on the downfall, affecting the public and wildlife alike.  The Great Lakes and major aquatic ecosystems on the three coasts urgently need restoration if we are to avert ecosystem collapse.  NWF will focus on key watershed and wetlands systems to protect and restore the needs of America's wildlife.

Providing Solutions to Global Warming     U.S. emissions are on the rise and without action, will continue to increase.  NWF will work to restore U.S. international leadership, achieve dramatic long-term emission cuts in the U.S. and globally, reverse global warming pollution build-up, and begin steps toward bold cuts that could stabilize our climate.  Connecting with leaders from diverse areas like businesses, university campuses, hunters and anglers, and leaders whose communities are especially vulnerable to global warming impacts will help achieve these goals.

Mobilizing Hunters and Anglers to Protect Wildlife and Combat Global Warming     Global warming is threatening hunting and fishing in America, and hunters and anglers are a politically conservative and powerful constituency that can advocate for global warming action.  NWF will mobilize its partners, allies and state affiliates to build grassroots support to take action that will reverse global warming.

Protecting Wildlife From Global Warming   Wildlife already bears the stress of habitat loss and other threats and needs protection from global warming impacts, especially effects from declining snow packs, drought, forest fires, sea level rise, and intensified storms.  NWF will help wildlife managers address the impacts of climate change and ensure that they have the financial resources to take necessary steps to protect wildlife in a changing climate.

Reversing Nature Deficit     Studies report that children spend an alarming amount of time in front of an electronic screen: an average of six hours per day.  NWF wants to reverse this nature defecit by utilizing its partnerships to reconnect children with nature and the outdoors.  This goal goes well beyond traditional environmental interests to include public health interests as well.

Strengthen the Capacity and Effectiveness of NWF Affiliates     Affiliates not only play a key role in the governance of NWF, they are a significant component of its grassroots strength.  A stronger and more effective affiliate network results in greater success in advancing our collective conservation and education goals.  NWF will invest additional resources and attention to ensure affiliates are effective forces in their states, creating meaningful action to confront global warming.
