Solutions Guide
The Kansas Wildlife Federation just secured a big victory for children in Kansas when Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius issued an Executive Order creating the Kansas Coalition for Children in Nature on Monday April 13. The Executive Order establishes a governor's council charged with developing a state plan to connect children with the outdoors. A number of NWF affiliates are working with their governor's offices on similar initiatives.
Kathleen Sebelius, governor of Kansas states, "Kansas must renew its efforts to ensure that its children have opportunities to connect with places they live and grow, to become informed and responsible stewards on the environment." http://www.governor.ks.gov/executive/Orders/exec_order0902.htm
NWF commends Allen Cooper, NWF Education Campaign Manager, in the Austin Regional Office. These efforts provide opportunities for NWF to work with statewide coalitions of organizations including NWF state affilaite and have been well-supported by NWF's regional representatives. Thanks to the RR's as well!
