(National Wildlife Federation)
NWF's
favorite race car driver, Leilani Munter, is
heading to Hawaii with
the Conservation Council for Hawaii (CCH) to
spread the word about global warming. You
may have seen Leilani at last year's NWF annual
meeting, or seen her with NWF lobbying the
halls of Congress for climate action, or maybe
you just know her for her skills in the Indy
Pro Series. Either way, Leilani is making
her cause known, and is promoting a
carbon-neutral life on and off the track (see
www.carbonfreegirl.com). Leilani
purchases an acre of rainforest for every race
she runs, and spends much of her time off the
track teaching fans of racing how to live a
life that she promotes in her motto:
"Life is short. Race hard. Live
green."
Leilani's mother is from Kona,
Hawaii, so
she is excited be back on the islands to spread
the word. On Saturday, Nov. 15, Leilani
will be appear at auto racing and performance
shops in Oahu
to speak to fans about living green and will
handout race cards and autographs. On
Sunday, they are hoping to do a scuba
fundraiser with some local dive shops. On
Monday, Nov. 17, CCH is planning a big public
event with Leilani at the Hawaii State Capitol
auditorium. Leilani and others will be
speaking about global warming, and the public
can go away with some great door prizes and
autographed racing cards. If you have
friends in Hawaii, they
don't want to miss this! And if you're
not in Hawaii, start
living green yourself by taking NWF's Good
Neighbor Pledge. Leilani says so (www.nwf.org/gnleilani/)!
